Writing Session #3 - 30 October 2024

Welcome to Writing Session #3. Feel free to share what you want to write about, any inspirations you have and what you have written this session.

I’ve been working on a "love letter to blogging’ here are some passages that I would like to share:

I get a giddy feeling when I stumble upon a new blog that is seems just full of juicy, juicy words. I can remember the day I came across https://gwern.net. So many essays, so many thoughts to dive into! I felt like scrooge mcduck jumping into that swimming pool of coins. Gwern has been elevated to the pantheon of internet greats in the corners of the internet I frequent and I would say it’s thoroughly deserved.

Why publish:

I think of Ursula Le Guinn’s notes that she added to The Left Hand of Darkness. It was a sci-fi book written in the 60’s that attempted to tackle the idea of gender and sexuality. There were some criticisms that came her way that pointed to things she overlooked but now the book is published with a foreward with her thoughts on the criticism. As an artwork, the orginal piece and her analysis are now combined and I think that’s a beautiful thing.

If you are misunderstood, it is not the end of the world but rather the beginning of it.

(If you want to do quotes here type in “>”)

I think that’s it from me:)

Some first drafts of a new poem I wanted to write  still very unorganized and rough - just some ideas:

you’re gentle as snowflakes on an eyelash
you’re patient as water sculpting stone
you’re kind as flowers turning towards the sun
you’re candid as flames dancing with the winds

Now I see your face every way I turn
Your voice hides in the city’s whispers
Your scent flies by with passing bikes
Your name keeps falling off my tongue:
“You’re holding my hand in row six,
the band is playing their old hits.
They say it’s one of those slow shifts,
I guess that is just showbiz.
Our talking silenced below lips,
damn, you are a pro at this.
My lipstick marks on your ribs,
Can’t keep you off my mind, -”
